FRP: Factory Reset Protection

Factory reset protection (FRP) is an element of security that protects Android devices from loss or theft. Even after a factory reset, locked Android devices deny unauthorized access.

How does FRP work?

After linking your Android device with a Google Account automatically the device will be protected, When someone restores your device to a factory state the Factory Reset Protection will be activated locking the device and it will ask for the credentials of the Google Account linked previously on the device.

How does screen lock affect FRP?

If you set a screen lock on the device (PIN, Pattern, or Password), it will be linked with the Factory Reset Protection, and your device will now be protected by the screen lock. If you forget the screen lock, the only way to recover and gain access to the device again is to restore it to a factory state, wiping all your data. After that, the Android device will ask for the credentials of the Google Account to recover your phone.

How to remove or bypass FRP?

To remove the Factory Reset Protection you will need to have advanced technical knowledge, one of these methods includes making a test point on the device and putting the device in a programming state, some tools can connect with the device in that state and modify the system to remove the protection.
